Indian Overseas Bank has invited online applications against 250 Vacancies for Local Bank Officers in JMGS-I across four States — Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The selected candidate shall be posted only in the State applied for, and will remain posted within that State for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV Grade, whichever is earlier. Online registration is open from 08.08.2026 to 24.08.2026 on www.iob.bank.in; no other mode of application will be accepted.
Candidates must ensure they satisfy every eligibility condition — including educational qualification, nationality, age, local language proficiency and category requirements (wherever applicable) — before applying. Merely applying for, appearing at, or qualifying any stage of the selection process does not automatically confer eligibility for appointment; the Bank verifies eligibility documents at the time of the Personal Interview and any subsequent stage.

Vacancy-wise language proficiency requirement as per the official notification
Candidates can apply for the vacancy of only one State. A candidate applying against the vacancy of one State will not be eligible to apply against the vacancy of any other State, and merit lists are drawn State-wise and category-wise. The selected candidates will be posted within the selected State for the first 12 years of their service or up to their promotion to SMGS-IV Grade, whichever is earlier.
Candidates should be proficient (reading, writing and speaking) in the mandatory local language of the State applied for, as listed in the table below. Shortlisted candidates who have not studied the local language of the applied State in either 10th or 12th standard will be required to appear for a Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) as part of the selection process, prior to the Personal Interview. Candidates who fail to qualify the LPT will not be considered for further selection.

Note: Some States include backlog vacancies. Out of the total vacancies, PwBD candidates are additionally identified as: VI – 2, HI – 2, OC – 5, ID – 3 (horizontal reservation, placed in the appropriate category to which they belong).
As per the official notification, the cut-off date for eligibility in age and educational qualification is the 1st day of the month in which online registration commences, i.e. 01.08.2026. A candidate must have been born not later than 01.08.2006 and not earlier than 02.08.1996 (both days inclusive) — meaning the minimum age is 20 years and the maximum age is 30 years for the Local Bank Officer (JMGS I) post.

Candidates applying for the post of Local Bank Officer (LBO) – JMGS I must possess a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India, or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
The candidate must possess a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate proving graduation on the day he/she registers online, and must indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.
The list of documents to be produced at the time of Personal Interview includes mark sheets and relevant certificates for educational qualifications, which must be proper documents issued by the concerned Board / University.

Vacancies under IOB LBO Recruitment 2026-27 are distributed among SC, ST, OBC, EWS and UR (General) categories as per the vacancy table above, along with horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The number of vacancies and reserved vacancies is provisional and may vary as per the Bank's actual requirements.
Candidates belonging to the OBC category but coming under the creamy layer, or whose caste does not find place in the Central List, are not entitled to OBC reservation and must indicate their category as General in the online application.
Persons not covered under the existing SC/ST/OBC reservation scheme, whose family's gross annual income is below ₹8.00 lakh, are identified as EWS, subject to specified asset conditions (agricultural land, residential flat/plot limits) mentioned in the notification. EWS vacancies are tentative and subject to further Government directives.
The post is identified suitable for candidates under the Orthopedically Challenged (OC), Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impaired (HI) and Intellectual Disability (ID) categories as defined under the RPWD Act, 2016, subject to a minimum benchmark of 40% of the specified disability, certified by the competent authority.
As reservation for PwBD candidates is on a horizontal basis, selected PwBD candidates will be placed in the appropriate vertical category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR-GEN) to which they belong.
