Important Rules Regarding Age Relaxation

As per the Official IOB LBO Recruitment Notification 2026-27, the following rules apply to age relaxation:

  • Maximum age limit specified (30 years) is applicable to General Category candidates and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category candidates.
  • If a candidate is eligible for relaxation under more than one category, the age relaxation is available on a cumulative basis with any one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted, subject to a maximum upper age limit of 50 years. This cumulative relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates.
  • The above relaxations are available only if candidates fulfil the various conditions prescribed in the Government of India orders and instructions in this regard.
  • To claim age relaxation, candidates should submit a copy of the necessary/requisite certificate(s) at the time of Personal Interview.
  • OBC candidates coming under the creamy layer, and/or whose caste does not find place in the Central List, are not entitled to OBC reservation or the associated age relaxation; such candidates must indicate their category as General in the online application form.
  • An Ex-Serviceman who has once joined a Government job on the civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-Serviceman for re-employment (including a job in a Public Sector Undertaking) ceases to enjoy Ex-Serviceman status for further employment.
  • There is no reservation for Ex-Servicemen in the Officers' Cadre; however, age relaxation is applicable as per extant Government guidelines.
  • Candidates eligible for age relaxation under "Persons affected by 1984 riots" must produce a certificate from the District Magistrate confirming eligibility under the Rehabilitation Package for 1984 Riot Affected Persons.
