🪖 Army Medical Fitness Checker — Eyesight · Flat Foot · Knock Knee

Select your conditions honestly below. This tool checks all three key medical parameters and gives you an instant Fit / Not Fit / Needs Improvement result based on Indian Army medical standards 2026.

👁️ Eyesight Eligibility 🦶 Flat Foot Check 🦵 Knock Knee Check 📋 Instant Result 🔒 100% Private
👁️ Section 1 — Eyesight Check
6/6 — Perfect
6/9 — Good
6/12 — Moderate
6/18 — Below Standard
6/24 or worse
🦶 Section 2 — Flat Foot Test
✅ Normal Arch — No Flat Foot
⚠️ Mild — Slight Flatness
❌ Moderate Flat Foot
❌ Severe / Total Flat Foot
Flat Foot Self-Check at Home: Wet your foot and step on a dry surface or paper. If your entire foot sole prints (no arch gap), you likely have flat foot. A normal arch shows a gap on the inner side of the footprint. Scroll down for the detailed self-check guide.
🦵 Section 3 — Knock Knee Test
cm
Knock Knee Gap Method: Stand straight, feet together. If your knees touch but your ankles don't, measure the gap between your inner ankles. Army standard: ankle gap must be less than 1 cm. If gap is 1 cm or more, it is classified as knock knee and may lead to rejection.

Army Medical Self Check Guide

Before the official medical, check these three conditions yourself at home. Early awareness gives you time to prepare — or consult a doctor.

1
👁️ Eyesight Self-Check
Cover one eye and read a newspaper from 6 metres. If you can read clearly, your vision may be near 6/6.
Army requires minimum 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other for GD without correction.
Glasses are generally not allowed for Army GD. Technical category allows mild correction.
Colour vision deficiency (colour blindness) is a disqualification for most army trades.
Visit an optometrist for a proper eye test before the rally. It costs ₹50–100.
✓ Vision 6/6 or 6/9 Required
2
🦶 Flat Foot Home Test
Wet Foot Test: Wet your bare foot and step firmly on a dry paper or floor. Look at the footprint left behind.
If the entire sole prints (inner edge visible fully), you likely have flat foot.
A normal arch shows a clear gap on the inner side of the footprint where the arch doesn't touch.
Flat foot (Pes Planus) is checked clinically — standing, weight-bearing, and sometimes X-ray.
Mild flat foot may pass if it is non-symptomatic and functional. Severe flat foot is rejected.
✗ Flat Foot Not Allowed (Severe)
3
🦵 Knock Knee Home Test
Gap Method: Stand straight on a flat floor, heels together. Bring your knees together naturally.
Measure the gap between your inner ankles with a measuring tape. This is your "inter-malleolar distance."
Army standard: Ankle gap must be less than 1 cm. Anything 1 cm or above = Knock Knee = Rejection.
Also check if your knees point inward significantly when standing — visible genu valgum is a disqualifier.
Bow legs (knees far apart) = Genu Varum — also checked in army medical and can be rejected.
✗ Ankle Gap ≥ 1 cm = Rejected

💛 Shivam Ki Kahani
Why This Tool Matters
"

Mera dost Shivam army ki tayari kar raha tha — poori dedication se. Usne running improve ki, pushups badhaye, diet follow kiya. Physical mein uski performance badhiya thi. Sab kuch sahi ja raha tha.

Lekin jab medical aaya, wo wahin reject ho gaya.

Reason tha — knock knee. Uske ankles ke beech ki gap 1.5 cm thi, jo army standard se zyada thi.

Sabse badi baat ye thi ki Shivam ko pehle kabhi pata hi nahi tha ki usme knock knee hai. Usne kabhi check hi nahi kiya tha. Rally se do din pehle maine usse ye test bataya — tab pata chala. Lekin tab bahut der ho chuki thi.

Agar usne pehle hi jaanch kar liya hota, toh ya toh wo doctor se improvement karta, ya physiotherapy shuru karta, ya phir mentally prepare hota ki ye cheez hai mujhme.

Us din mujhe feel hua ki information ka na hona hi sabse bada weapon hai jo aspirants ke against kaam karta hai.

Isliye maine ye Army Medical Fitness Checker tool banaya — taaki koi aur Shivam apni mehnat karke bhi sirf information ki kami ki wajah se reject na ho.

📖 Complete Guide
Indian Army Medical Test — Complete Guide 2026

Every year, lakhs of young Indians attempt army rallies across the country. They train hard — months of running, pushups, and physical conditioning. But a significant percentage fail not in the physical tests, but in the medical round. The tragedy is that many of these rejections could have been anticipated and prepared for. This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to know about the Indian Army medical test in 2026, from what gets checked to how you can self-assess before rally day.

Army Medical Test — What Really Happens at the Rally

The Indian Army medical examination is conducted by Army Medical Officers (AMO) at the rally site immediately after the physical fitness test. It is a systematic, multi-step examination that checks both external physical conditions and internal health markers. The process typically happens in a designated medical tent or building at the rally venue and can last 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on candidate volume.

The medical is not just a quick look — it is a structured clinical examination. Doctors check you from head to toe. Key areas include: eyes (vision test using Snellen chart + Ishihara colour plates), feet and lower limbs (flat foot, knock knee, bow legs), teeth (dental points check), chest measurement, varicose veins, skin conditions, hernia check, and vital signs like blood pressure.

Key Fact: The medical happens the same day as the physical test at most rallies. You cannot postpone or reschedule the medical. If you fail, you are handed a rejection slip and sent home. There is no re-examination on the same day.

Eyesight Rules — Army Medical Fitness for Vision

Vision requirements are one of the most misunderstood aspects of army medical eligibility. Here is the clear breakdown for 2026:

  • Army GD (General Duty): 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye — without glasses or lenses. Candidates with even mild refractive errors are rejected for GD.
  • Army Technical: Vision may be 6/6 corrected to 6/6 with glasses. Mild power (up to ±2 diopters) may be acceptable in some categories.
  • Colour Vision: All army candidates must have normal colour vision. Ishihara test is done. Colour blindness of any type is a disqualifier for most trades.
  • Night Blindness: Tested in some cases. Night blindness is a rejection criterion.
  • LASIK Surgery: Candidates who have had LASIK must wait at least 6 months after surgery and must disclose the surgery history.

Flat Foot — Army Medical Fitness Rules (Pes Planus)

Flat foot, medically known as Pes Planus, is one of the leading causes of medical rejection at Indian Army rallies. The condition means the arch of the foot is absent or collapsed — when standing, the entire sole touches the ground. This affects shock absorption during intense physical activity like running and load-bearing.

The army doctor checks flat foot by asking the candidate to stand flat on the ground. A visual assessment is made of the medial arch. In cases of doubt, the doctor may also perform a Feiss Line test or request an X-ray. Symptomatic flat foot — where the candidate experiences pain or has visible deformity — is a clear disqualifier. Mild non-symptomatic flat foot in young candidates is sometimes assessed case-by-case.

Reality Check: Many candidates with mild flat foot have passed army medicals. The doctor has discretion for borderline cases. However, severe flat foot (Grade II-III) is universally rejected. Know your grade before the rally.

Knock Knee — Army Medical Standard (Genu Valgum)

Knock knee (Genu Valgum) refers to a postural deformity where the knees point inward — when the knees touch together while standing, the ankles are separated by a gap. This gap is the measurement that doctors use to determine rejection or acceptance.

Army Standard 2026: When a candidate stands upright with knees touching, the inter-malleolar distance (gap between inner ankles) must be less than 1 cm. If the gap is 1 cm or more, the candidate is classified as having knock knee and is medically rejected.

  • The test is done standing upright on a flat surface, bare feet
  • Both knees are brought together, and the ankle gap is measured with a ruler or scale
  • Bow legs (the opposite condition — knees apart, gap between them) are also checked and can be disqualifying
  • Knock knee is often hereditary but can sometimes be improved through physiotherapy exercises in young candidates (16–20 age group)

Shivam's Story — The Problem No One Talks About

The story of Shivam is not unique. Every single army rally sees dozens of candidates being rejected for flat foot or knock knee — conditions they had no idea they had. The problem is not lack of preparation in terms of physical fitness. The problem is lack of self-awareness about medical conditions that silently exist in the body.

This is why the Army Medical Fitness Checker on this page exists. It is not a replacement for medical examination — it is a pre-examination awareness tool. Use it to know your risk areas, then take the right action: consult a doctor, start physiotherapy, or mentally prepare for a tough rally.

Common Mistakes Army Aspirants Make

  • Never checking flat foot or knock knee before attending the rally — assuming they are fine
  • Not getting an eye test done — assuming their vision is good because they can see clearly in daily life
  • Not disclosing medical history (surgeries, chronic conditions) — which can get them barred if discovered later
  • Ignoring dental health — not knowing about the 14-point dental scoring system
  • Training hard on the physical side while completely neglecting the medical side of preparation
  • Believing that knock knee or flat foot cannot be improved — some mild cases can be improved with physiotherapy

Can Flat Foot or Knock Knee Be Improved?

For candidates in the 16–21 age group, mild flat foot can sometimes improve with dedicated arch-strengthening exercises. Calf raises, toe curls, towel scrunching, and walking barefoot on uneven surfaces help strengthen the foot arch over time. Similarly, mild knock knee (ankle gap of 1–2 cm) may reduce with targeted physiotherapy exercises like inner thigh strengthening and squats with correct form.

However, these improvements take months, not days. If you have one year before your army rally, starting immediately gives you the best chance. If the rally is next week, focus on understanding your situation and exploring other recruitment options if the conditions are severe.

Final Advice: Visit a certified orthopaedic doctor for flat foot or knock knee assessment. Get a formal clinical evaluation — not just a home check. Early knowledge = early action. Use this tool for awareness, then consult a professional.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
🪖 Army medical test mein kya kya check hota hai? +
Indian Army medical test mein ye cheezein check hoti hain: eyesight (Snellen chart + Ishihara colour test), flat foot, knock knee/bow legs, chest measurement, varicose veins, hernia, dental points (minimum 14), height-weight ratio, blood pressure, skin conditions, and hearing. Medical rally site pe hi hoti hai physical test ke baad usi din.
🦶 Flat foot kaise check kare ghar par? +
Ghar par flat foot check karne ka sabse aasan tarika hai "Wet Foot Test": apna pair paani mein dip karo aur paper ya dry floor pe step karo. Agar poori sole ki print aaye bina arch gap ke, to flat foot ho sakta hai. Normal foot mein inner side pe ek curve (gap) aata hai print mein. Confirmation ke liye ek orthopaedic doctor se check karwao.
🦵 Knock knee kaise check kare army ke liye? +
Seedha khade ho, dono heel ek saath. Apne ghutne naturally milao. Ab apne inner ankles ke beech ki gap measuring tape se measure karo. Agar gap 1 cm se kam hai — army ke liye theek hai. Agar gap 1 cm ya zyada hai — ye knock knee maana jayega aur rejection ka risk hai. Army mein ye test exactly isi tarah hota hai.
👁️ Army mein eyesight kitni honi chahiye? +
Army GD ke liye: ek aankh mein 6/6 aur doosri mein 6/9 honi chahiye — bina chashme ya lens ke. Army Technical category mein corrected vision 6/6 allow ho sakta hai. Colour vision normal hona chahiye — colour blindness rejection hai. Agar chashma lagate ho aur category GD hai, to ye disqualification hai.
🔧 Kya flat foot ya knock knee theek ho sakta hai? +
Haan, kuch hadd tak — especially young candidates (16–21 years) mein. Mild flat foot mein arch-strengthening exercises (calf raises, toe curls, barefoot walking) se improvement ho sakta hai months mein. Mild knock knee mein physiotherapy aur targeted exercises (inner thigh strengthening, proper squat form) se gap reduce ho sakta hai. Severe cases mein improvement limited hoti hai. Doctor se milna zaroori hai.
📋 Army medical ke liye kya preparation karni chahiye? +
1) Eyesight test karwao ek optometrist se — ek mahine pehle. 2) Flat foot aur knock knee self-check karo is tool se — phir doctor se confirm karwao. 3) Dental check karwao — 14 dental points hone chahiye. 4) Chest measurement regularly check karo. 5) Varicose veins ke liye apni legs check karo standing position mein. 6) Blood pressure normal rakhne ke liye stress kam karo rally se pehle.
✅ Kya ye tool accurate hai? Iska result official maana jayega? +
Nahi — ye tool official nahi hai. Ye sirf ek educational awareness checker hai jo aapko pehle se inform karta hai aapki possible medical status ke baare mein. Official result sirf Army Medical Officer (AMO) ke in-person examination se aata hai. Lekin is tool se aap apne risk areas identify karke advance mein doctor se consult kar sakte ho — aur yahi iska asli fayda hai.
